1st Anniversary of Black Saturday

We are now twelve months on since Black Saturday. Twelve months ago our place was left burnt. I thought we would be looking out across black for months and months. In the intervening time since then we have rebuilt our fences, resown our pastures and replaced our livestock. The weather has been kind in these last twelve months, resembling nothing like what we experienced twelve months ago. Read more.

Welcome to Tarrawarra Abbey

Tarrawarra Abbey is a community of Cistercian monks in the heart of the Yarra Valley, 60 kilometres north-east of the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Founded in 1954 by Mount St Joseph Abbey, Roscrea in Ireland, the monks of Tarrawarra belong to the worldwide Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance (OCSO), popularly known as the "Trappists".
